MANITOBA — In a breaking-new approach to education on-reserves, Little Foot First Nation has opened their doors to students hoping for a better way of life.
“When they walk through the front doors, we just want them to feel the future,” said an enthusiastic Chief Roger Locklear. “In addition to introducing an entertainment-based curriculum, we have designed the school to resemble the look and impression of a casino atmosphere.”
The small community of 600 people voted overwhelmingly in favour of building a new school that would “help foster in the next generation of casino leadership.”
The Chief and Council issued a statement that noted how this would build bridges with the surrounding communities as well.
“Local governments have always been in favour of building casinos rather than building a robust education system on-reserves,” stated Chief Locklear. “This approach meets them in the middle. It ensures we are not robbing the youth of a future filled with hot dice, fast cards, and progressive jackpots.”
“These students deserve a better way of life. They deserve to entertain, and be entertained. Now watch this roll,” said Chief Locklear as he landed an eleven on the nearby craps table.
